Heather Chan

Heather Chan has a broad range of experience in helping clients resolve their family law disputes, from negotiations to court motions and trial, when necessary. Heather's empathetic, yet strong approach is customized to meet each client's individual needs and circumstances. Her priorities are helping her clients move forward and focusing on the best interests of their children.

Heather was born and raised in North York, and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Botany from the University of Toronto (St. George campus). Following a successful career in commercial art and 3D modeling, she moved to Alberta to obtain her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Calgary Faculty of Law, where she was selected for a clerkship term at the Provincial Court of Alberta during her final year of studies. Heather has also received intensive training in Advanced Dispute Resolution and courtroom advocacy. After articling in civil, family, corporate, estate, and employment law at a medium-sized law office in Lethbridge, Alberta, she was called to the Alberta Bar in 2015. She then operated a successful general litigation practice in Lethbridge as a solo practitioner, where she has advocated on behalf of adults and children in family, civil, child protection, mental health, and criminal law matters. Heather was also a volunteer lawyer at Lethbridge Legal Guidance, and was the Committee Chair for Law Day, an annual family-friendly open house at the Lethbridge Courthouse each April in collaboration with the Canadian Bar Association. Heather returned to the GTA to be closer to her family, was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019, and has become involved in the legal community through the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL - Ontario).

In her free time, Heather enjoys music, painting, sculpture, cycling, and martial arts.
